Navigating Menopause & Perimenopause

Embracing the Change: My Journey Through Menopause and the Power of Herbal Remedies

As I navigate through the unique journey of menopause, I’ve come to realise just how important it is to prioritise my health and well-being during this transformative phase of life.

For me, it hasn’t just been about managing symptoms but seizing the opportunity to lay the groundwork for a healthier future. It’s empowering to know that with a few thoughtful lifestyle changes, I can ease the discomfort that often accompanies this natural transition.

Recent research has illuminated the profound connection between nutrition and health during menopause. It's become increasingly clear that what I choose to eat can significantly impact how I feel. Rather than viewing this time as simply a challenge to endure, I see it as a chance to thrive.

Nourishing My Body

A key takeaway for me has been the importance of nutrition. I’ve started focusing on incorporating good sources of protein, a colorful array of plant-based foods, and healthy fats into my diet. Foods rich in phytoestrogens, like flaxseeds, have become staples in my diet. They have a gentle way of providing relief from hot flushes, making them a wonderful addition to my daily routine.

I’ve also worked to ensure that I get at least three servings of calcium-rich foods each day, such as dairy products and leafy greens, to support my bones during this transition. It’s reassuring to know that the right foods can help me feel more balanced and energised.

The Role of Herbal Remedies

In my quest for natural relief, I’ve explored herbal remedies that have been traditionally used to support women through menopause. This led me to the creation of my Herbal Infusion Blend No.11 GODDESS. Tulsi, oatstraw and limeflower have become key players in my wellness toolkit. Each of these herbs has its unique properties, and I've found that they provide a comforting sense of support. Whether it's managing mood swings or alleviating some of the discomfort, these herbs have made a noticeable difference in my daily life.

Supplementing Wisely

While I prioritise herbal remedies and whole foods, I also recognise the potential benefits of supplementation. Living in the northern hemisphere means that vitamin D is especially crucial for me from October to March. I’ve started taking vitamin D3 alongside K2 for added benefits—what a great combination for my bones and overall health! Additionally, I’ve discovered that creatine monohydrate is not just for athletes—it can also aid in muscle building and stamina, which is something I know I need as I get older.

To help with anxiety and sleep troubles, magnesium has become a comforting ally. It’s incredible how these supplements can work in harmony with a balanced diet to promote well-being during this phase.

Lifestyle Changes for Relief

Alongside diet and herbal aids, I’ve embraced some mindful lifestyle adjustments. Reducing caffeine and spicy foods has helped decrease the intensity of hot flushes. Quitting alcohol was one change I made, and I can’t stress enough how liberating it feels.

Always Consult a Professional

As I delve deeper into my wellness journey, I still remain committed to consulting with my GP about any new supplements or remedies I consider. It’s essential to ensure they align with my individual needs and don't interfere negatively with my prescribed medication.

This journey through menopause is undeniably unique to each of us, but embracing the changes and investing in our health can lead to a vibrant life filled with possibilities. I hope to inspire others navigating this path to explore the power of nutrition, exercise, and herbs as we create a healthy future.

Together, let’s thrive beyond menopause!
