September Stillness – A Gentle Reset for Mind, Body and Soul
There’s something about September that I’ve always loved. It’s not just the changing light or the first hint of crispness in the air. It’s the feeling of a subtle shift, the kind you feel before you see.
The height of summer, with its bright energy and longer days, begins to give way to something quieter. More grounded and a little more spacious. And for me, that change is a gift; a chance to exhale, to slow down, to begin again - gently.
A season for soft restarts
I’ve always thought of September as a second new year. But unlike January, with its full-throttle resolutions and “new year, new you” pressure, September invites something softer. A check-in, not a challenge. A realignment, not a reinvention.
At this time of year, I often find myself asking ‘What do I want to carry with me, and what can I lovingly let go of?’ ‘How can I move forward with more care and clarity?’
These aren’t big, dramatic questions. They’re quiet ones, the kind you ask yourself while you’re stirring your tea or watching the steam rise. They’re gentle, but they matter.
What I’ve learned from summer
This summer has been full, in beautiful ways, and in tiring ones too.
Like so many women I know, I’ve been balancing a lot: family (including A-level results), work, a growing business, the endless carousel of meals, emotions, to-do lists and logistics. Sometimes it’s felt like I’ve been moving at a million miles an hour. Sometimes I’ve felt wildly grateful. And sometimes, often, both at once.
But the more I grow this business, the more I believe in the power of pausing, of marking seasonal shifts, of letting nature remind us to recalibrate.
What I’m leaning into this autumn
This month, I’m not writing a list of goals, overhauling my routine or jumping into a 30-day challenge. Instead, I’m choosing a few small things that feel nurturing, purposeful and supportive.
That’s because September is a time of change, whether it’s getting back to work, kids going back to school or like mine, off to uni for the first time.
I’d love to share a few things that are helping me soften into this new season:
1. Morning rituals with meaning
Before the emails and the lists and the noise, I try to carve out 15 minutes that are just mine. I brew a cup of Detox, a clean, refreshing blend that feels like a breath of fresh air, and take a moment to journal, stretch, or just sit in the quiet. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be mine.
2. Mid-morning moments of focus
Around 10:30am, when the day is in full swing, I reach for No.14 Focus. It’s a blend I created to support mental clarity without the jittery edge of caffeine and it always helps me come back to centre.
3. A proper wind-down
Evenings used to be when I’d scroll, snack, overthink. Now, I try to treat them as a gentle descent. I light a candle. I brew a cup of Sleep and give myself permission to stop. To unplug. To be done.
This season is yours, too
You don’t have to get it all right, you don’t have to tick every box. But you do get to begin again, gently, quietly, whenever you need.
So, whether you’re feeling clear and ready or still a bit tangled from summer, I hope this new season brings you pockets of peace and clarity.
